Veves

New Orleans Voodoo has roots in the  ancestral regions of the African Diaspora. Its name means “Spirit of God”. Practitioners are believers in one God, below which are “Loa” or angels, responsible for the tasks of everyday life. Each Loa has a symbol, or “Veve” that when drawn on the ground obliges the spirits to descend to earth. Text and images are hand drawn with white ink.
